To Azog or Not To Azog

You may have heard by now but there was a mysterious Azog given away randomly at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Nobody knew when it was given away since it was just handed out by casual clothed employees. Only 100 of Azog was given out and the exclusiveness of it has driven the prices on the minifigure to unheard of amounts on eBay.

As of this writing, there are at least $13,000 worth of Azog minifigures that have already been sold on eBay, including one that sold for $299.95 which is a steal compared to the others. Although another fairly exclusive minifigure have been going for a lot, Mr. Gold, none have match the highest Azog minifigure at $1750. For the completists, this amount is most likely unattainable and their collection will now have a blemish. The difference is that there are 5000 Mr. Gold minifigures compared to only 100 of Azog.

As an eBay Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

The question is, who is to blame for the absurd amounts that they’re going for? Is it LEGO’s fault for giving out the exclusively exclusive Azog and limiting them to 100 and only attendees had a chance to get it or is it the sellers greediness that has made the prices so inflated?

Some may say that the blame goes to LEGO because they gave it out to random attendees and the people who couldn’t go will never have a chance to get it. Others say that it’s the sellers’ fault because … Continue

LEGO The Hobbit SDCC 2013 Exclusive Micro Scale Bag End Review

At the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, LEGO announced one of the two exclusive sets they would be selling is The Hobbit Micro Scale Bag End. To get the set, you had to stand in line to get a ticket to purchase the set. I was lucky enough to get one of the last sets they had on the first day. The set consists of 130 pieces and retails for $40 which is a whopping $0.31/piece but that is expected since these are exclusive sets that you can only get at conventions. This set is number 785 of 1000. This year LEGO has decided to go with a small box instead of a tin can like last year’s exclusive. Inside the box, there is one unnumbered bag and one instruction booklet.

LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2013 Day 2 Recap

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC 2013 Exclusive Spider-Man Minifigure

On the second day of the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, it went mostly well at the LEGO booth. The main concern was how the LEGO staff was planning to control the overcrowding issue for the exclusive minifigure giveaway that was stopped abruptly yesterday. The management team figured out one way to deal with the issue was to hold the raffle outside in the West Terrace of the Convention Center. From what it looked like, it was a pretty successful raffle. The only thing that was bad about it was that it was outside and the sun was beaming down on our heads. The line moved pretty quickly and there were two staff members handing out the raffle tickets. After that, you just have to wait until 3:30pm for the LEGO booth to announce the winners. There was also a bonus drawing for the rest of yesterday’s Spider-Woman minifigure. When the winners were announced, I tweeted that I was one of the winners of exclusive The Amazing Spider-Man minifigure! After I calmly picked up my prize, I posted an image on my Instagram account to prove that I was actually a winner. Above is the picture I took after I got back home. In other giveaway news, there another minifigure that was given out to Comic Con attendees. FBTB reported that an Azog minifig was given out somewhere that was not the LEGO booth. We’re still not sure where or how to get Azog as of this time.

Today, LEGO also revealed the new LEGO … Continue

LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2013 Day 1 Recap

LEGO Sign

Day 1 at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con is finally over and I haven’t been this tired in a very long time. Let me do a recap on all things LEGO related today at the Con. The biggest news there was probably the failure of the exclusive Spider-Woman minifigure giveaway. As you may have seen in my earlier post, the LEGO floor staff had to shut down the whole thing 15-20 minutes into the giveaway due to overcrowding. If you’ve been to SDCC before, once there’s any sort of overcrowding, they would be forced to shut down things like this. As a result, there are still some left over raffle tickets left over for Spider-Woman and will be given out tomorrow morning at 11:30 but this time it’s at the West Terrace. At that time, LEGO will also be giving out tickets for the Amazing Spider-Man minifigure as well. At 3:30pm, check if you have a winning ticket on LEGOraffle.com and if you do, head back to the LEGO booth to pick up your precious.

Another thing that I noticed that was a little out of control was the line for the LEGO The Hobbit Micro Scale Bag End and the LEGO Star Wars JEK-14 Mini Stealth Starfighter exclusive sets. People were lining up for the minifigure giveaway when the line was for tickets to get the two sets. This confusion led to a line that snaked a couple of times around the whole booth. There were only a limited amount of each set … Continue
