LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Milano (30449) Polybag Review

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Milano (30449)

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has hit theaters here in the US and to commemorate the movie, LEGO has produced a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes polybag for it with The Milano (30449). This polybag consists of 64 pieces and according to the May 2017 Store Calendar, you can get it for free with purchases of $35 or more from May 8-21, while supplies last.

This is the third version of the ship with The Milano Spaceship Rescue (76021) from the first movie and the latest one being in The Milano vs. The Abilsk (76081).

Build

The build is straight-forward and it utilizes some fairly rare parts that are included with the set. The rarest one is the trans-white 2×2 sloped piece used for the windshield. Next is the newer 2×3 shield tile piece. Finally there’s the Beam 1M with three Balls Ø5,9 which was mostly used for the Nexo Knights Battle Suits.

The design is pretty spot-on to the larger version of the ship. The front has the unique V-shaped nose while the six wings use the aforementioned Beam 1M piece. If you look closely at the front of one side of the ship, there’s a medium azure stud piece to give some detailing.

The thrusters on the back are on Technic pins so they can be angled straight back or downwards.

LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (30611) 2017 May the 4th Polybag Review

LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (30611)

The annual LEGO Star Wars May the 4th promotional event starts in just a few hours and usually we get exclusive minifigures as part of the promo but this year, LEGO has decided to do something different. For this year, we get a brick-built R2-D2 (30611) polybag to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. The polybag consists of 70 pieces and you can get it for free with purchases of $50 or more in LEGO Star Wars products.

LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (30611)

When the set was revealed to be this year’s promotional polybag, there were differentiating opinions on it. Some welcomed the change while others are somewhat disappointed that it’s not an exclusive minifigure since there are a ton of other characters that could be great minifigures.

Build

R2-D2 is actually a pretty decent build with the body useing SNOT techniques to create the look. You actually build it upside-down before turning it back over to finish it up at the end. The head piece is exclusive to this polybag and there’s printing all around it. It is attached in the middle of the body with a Technic pin so it can actaully rotate around. Just a side note, the head is the same size as the R4-P17 Astromech droid head from the UCS Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter (10215).

LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (30611)

There is some articulation at the legs and feet using Technic pins as the main things to connect the legs to the body and the feet to the legs. There’s also the retractable central leg in the front to show R2-D2 … Continue
