LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Classic TV Series – Mr. Freeze (30603) Review

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Classic TV Series - Mr. Freeze (30603)

At the beginning of the month, LEGO released a new LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Batman Classic TV Series Mr. Freeze (30603) polybag as part of a promotion at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Homeicon. You can get him with purchases of $75 or more and it is supposed to be a small extension to the Batman Classic TV Series Batcave (76052)icon.

The polybag features the Mr. Freeze character in the 1966 Classic Batman TV series portrayed by Otto Preminger. The face printing is perfect down to the long red eyebrows and wrinkles.

His cooling suit is a light blue color with upper part of the torso having printing for the temperature controls of the suit. There’s also some printing of the freeze collar that continues on the back although I wish there was an actual piece for that.

He also wears a cold pack with two tanks that connects with the trans-clear piece around the neck. Another detail is the knob to turn the air on and off. Finally, we have the blue Freeze Gun that connects to the air pack using a whip piece.

Overall, the Batman Classic TV Series Mr. Freeze (30602) is a very nice 16 piece polybag. It will be available until April 15, while supplies last so we’ll see if it will be fairly rare or not in the future since it requires $75 purchases to get it.

If you picked up the Batman Classic TV Series Batcave (76052)icon, Mr. Freeze does look very nice standing alongside … Continue

Minifigure

The minifigure included in the Fun Pack is the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man which many LEGO Ghostbusters fans have been waiting for. He’s a pretty simple minifigure but the character is represented perfectly in minifigure form. The torso has the red scarf pattern which could be very nice for other minifigure uses while the head and collar piece is one mold. The head itself is very nice with the little molding details of the chubby face. Finally it comes with the NFC disc that all Dimensions minifigures come with.

Blokpod Sorting and Storage Solution Review

Blokpod Sorting and Storage

A few years ago, LEGO released the Sort and Store (5001125) which was shaped like a minifigure head that allows you to shake the head to sort your bricks. This allows you to theorically sort your large, medium, and small bricks into their respective trays.

After about a year on the market, the LEGO Sort and Store was retired and no official LEGO product has had that feature since. Since then a fairly new third-party company called Blokpod has released a new product that has a similar design and use as the Sort and Store. However there are some differences between the two. First is the transparent case. You can actually see your bricks and how they get sorted when you shake it. Another difference is that it is larger and contains four compartments for even more storage capacity.

Blokpod Sorting and Storage

With Blokpod, you remove the trays by turning them clockwise instead of anticlockwise as the instructions say and vice versa to lock them in place. The plastic is pretty stiff when you first use it but they loosen up once you open it up more. They are modular so you can add more or less to your liking.

Blokpod Sorting and Storage

Again, the premise of the Blokpod is the same as the old Sort and Store. You pour in your bricks and at the top and give it a good shake. The smallest pieces theoretically are supposed to fall to the bottom while larger pieces are supposed to stay in the higher levels. As you can see, some of the … Continue

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes The Batmobile (30446) Polybag Review

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes The Batmobile (30446)

Toys R Us stores here and there have let customers purchase the new LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes The Batmobile (30446) polybag based on the vehicle from the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The polybag has 63 pieces and retails for $3.99. The Batmobile is a pretty simple build that has the relative shape of the vehicle and when displayed next to the Batmobile from the Kryptonite Interception (76045), it doesn’t look too bad. None of the parts used exclusive although the red 2X2X2/3 plate is a fairly new piece that been used in mostly larger sets. You can’t see it from the outside so you can probably substitute it with another color.

Again, I found the polybag at my local Toys R Us store. They weren’t in the LEGO section and I had to ask guest services for it because they had to bring it out from the back. If you’re looking for it, ask them to look up item #84232. I didn’t hear anything about it being part of a promotion at this time so I was able to purchase it by itself.

LEGO Ideas Maze (21305) Review

LEGO Ideas Maze (21305)

When LEGO announced that the Maze (21305) would be the next released LEGO Ideas set, there was a mixed reaction from fans. Some loved the nostalgia of the old school wooden Labyrinth Marble Maze game including me while others felt that another project would have been a better choice. LEGO has graciously sent us a review copy of the Maze and here is my official review of the set.
