LEGO Nexo Knights Intro Pack (5004388)

From now until January 10 with every purchase you make at LEGO Brand Stores or on Shop@Home, you’ll get a FREE LEGO Nexo Knights Intro Pack (5004388). If you haven’t gotten one yet, here’s a little sneak peek of what is included in this Intro Pack.

LEGO Nexo Knights Intro Pack (5004388)

As you can see, there are a total of five items in the pack including a generic Lava Monster minifigure, a Shield holder key chain, a poster, and two sticker sheets, one with the Nexo Knights and the other with the Monsters.

For the Lava Monster minifigure, it looks like a combination of a couple of the monsters in this wave but this particular minifigure looks like it’s exclusive to this pack. Like with the other monsters, it has a red torso and wears some black pants with leg armor printing. It has a double-sided head and has a helmet to go along with him. However, there is no accessory.

The Shield holder key chain is the same one that all the Nexo Knights have in gray color. There is a gray 1×1 Technic brick with hole and a 1×1 round stud glued on to the shield itself. Finally there’s a little chain that you can attach it to whatever you want.

The poster is double sided and on one side, you have the promo image that we saw on the back of the LEGO Club Magazine back in October. On the other side, you have a cool image of the Monsters posing in front of a fire.… Continue

LEGO Seasonal Valentines Cupid Dog (40201) Review

LEGO Seasonal Valentines Cupid Dog (40201)

A lot of new LEGO sets became available today and included in that list is the Valentines Cupid Dog (40201)icon. As you can see, LEGO has gone back to the 2014 creature designs instead of continuing with the vignettes from last year. This set contains 150 pieces and retails or $9.99. The contents of the box include two un-numbered bags and a small instruction booklet.

The build is very simple and much like the previous characters, you start with the lower torso and legs. After that, you build up the rest of the torso and arms followed by the head. The legs are still on hinges while the arms are on ball joints so there’s more articulation. The head is on a swivel and the ears are also on a ball joint. You can also see its tongue sticking out a little. Finally, the tail is able to swing around on a TECHNIC pin. The accessories included with the the dog is a little brick-built candy heart and a bow and arrow. You also see on the torso that it’s wearing a red bowtie made out of cheese slopes.

LEGO Seasonal Valentines Cupid Dog (40201)

Overall, the Valentines Cupid Dog (40201) is a slight upgrade over the 2014 Valentine’s Day Teddy Bear (40085) but mainly because of the articulation it has. However, it is a slight downgrade from the Valentine’s Day Dinner (40120) vignette that we got last year since it was pretty much perfect. I don’t have any cons for the Cupid Dog but it’s not as cute as the … Continue

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Advent Calendar (75097) Round Up

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Advent Calendar (75097)

The LEGO Star Wars 2015 Advent Calendar (75097) has been completed yesterday and there were some things that I liked about it and there were things where I wasn’t too impressed by it.

Good

One thing I really liked about this year’s advent calendar is the little sub-themes the builds were separated into like Tatooine, Endor, and Hoth. Even the flap on the box doubles up as a little playmat featuring the destinations.

A were a lot of the models that I really enjoyed including the Sarlaac, Sandcrawler, Imperial Star Destroyer, and the AT-AT, just to name a few.

All of the minifigures this year were pretty good since we didn’t get a Battle Droid for the first time ever in an advent calendar. Of course there are also some standout minifigures like the homage to the Ralph McQuarrie’s 1979 Lucafilm Christmas card with the R2-D2 and C-3PO minifigures. The other minifigures that I liked were Jawa and the Hoth Rebel Trooper which was a little teaser on the character that we’ll get next year.

Bad

There were also some things that I didn’t enjoy as much like the weapon racks we get every year. There were also the ones with the play features which turned to be rather bland like the catapult, the turret, and the Hoth Command Post. Other than that, all the other builds were decent.

I also think the retail price of $39.99 is a little overpriced for what you get but it is … Continue
