The LEGO Ninjago Movie Coming to San Diego Comic Con 2017

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Poster

San Diego Comic Con 2017 news is in full swing especially for the LEGO-related things. Warner Bros. will have their usual panel in Hall H and it appears that the cast and crew of The LEGO Ninjago Movie will be hand to discuss the film. Chris McKay has confirmed they will be there but didn’t say to what extent.

Most likely, some or all of the cast including Jackie Chan, Justin Theroux, Dave Franco, Olivia Munn, Michael Peña, Fred Armisen, Kumail Nanjiani, Abbi Jacobson, and Zach Woods could be on hand to talk about the movie as well.

Depending on my schedule, I may or may not be able to attend the Hall H panel but I’ll definitely report on it when information is available. Hopefully there’s new details of The LEGO Ninjago Movie and a new trailer would be nice as well.

The same thing goes for the Nexo Knight panel but again you can check out my recap post for shots of the screen.

LEGO Nexo Knights SDCC 2016 Panel

At the last LEGO panel of San Diego Comic Con 2016, we had a panel for LEGO Nexo Knights. It was moderated by LEGO marketing director Brian Bowler and the panel consisted of Tommy Andreasen (showrunner) and Mark Hoffeimeir (writer) as well as design manager Melissa Pickering, and senior designers Samuel Johnson and Mark Stafford. Also appearing as a guest was the voice of Jestro, Vincent Tong.

Like with the LEGO Ninjago panel, the first half of the panel consisted of LEGO showing off early concept art of some of the sets and its inspirations for the Fortrex, Mecha Horse, the King’s Mech, and Clay’s Rumble Blade. As part of their process, LEGO designers go through a number of builds before settling on the final product for release.

While showing off some of the main characters of the theme, it was revealed that Aaron Fox is named after Michael J. Fox and uses a hoverboard like Marty McFly in Back to the Future II. Also it was noted that the voice of the Book of Monsters is sort of a tribute to Stan Lee and if you’ve watched the show before, you can kind of hear it.

Next up, they showed off a clip which also gave an exclusive SDCC 2016 Snake Den Nexo Power. After the clip, it was revealed that the new season of LEGO Nexo Knights will be premiering on August 13 on the Cartoon Network.

LEGO Ninjago SDCC 2016 Panel

A lot of you have asked about a recap of the LEGO Ninjago panel at San Diego Comic Con 2016. I did sort of a live tweet during the event but I’ve finally had some time to do a post about it. First the panel did sort of a recap of Season 6: Skybound and they asked fans who Nya should end up with and get got a lot of feedback and went with Jay. They also showed a lot of the early concept images of some of the sets with lots of test builds.

Then they talked about when LEGO Ninjago will be returning to Cartoon Network which was revealed to be on October 29 with the first episode called “Day of the Departed.” Here they showed a two or so minute clip of the episode and it showed the ninjas riding in their respective vehicles and Cole suddenly starts to vanish as he is still a ghost and begins to crash as the screen fades out.

Next up, they teased the next adventure which will be called “The Hands of Time.” They did not elaborate on this so that left us wondering what it’s about.

During the Q&A session, it was stated that The LEGO Ninjago Movie will be talk about more next year so there’s no new info on that. As for next season, it was hinted that there will be more skeletons as well as maybe a new element coming. Also someone asked if we will be seeing Sensei Garmadon again and … Continue

LEGO Marvel BrickHeadz Iron Man & Captain America (41492)

This year’s exclusive sets at San Diego Comic Con are the new LEGO BrickHeadz which are also coming in 2017. These sets went for $40 each at the con and the only way to be able to get one was to enter a raffle early in the morning to win a voucher to purchase the set later on in the day. The only BrickHeadz set that I was able to obtain is Iron Man & Captain America (41492) which contains 184 pieces.
