Two More LEGO Movies Planned by Warner Bros.

As we reported earlier this year, The LEGO Movie 2 will have a release date of May 26, 2017 and the LEGO Ninjago Movie has a September 23, 2016 release date. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has plans for even more LEGO movies in the future.

Sources say that there are two untitled LEGO animated films for Memorial Day weekend for May 25, 2018 and May 24, 2019. They suggest that the 2018 movie could be the sequel to the planned LEGO Ninjago movie while the 2019 date could be part three of The LEGO Movie. However since those dates are still four years out, things could still change. We’ll keep tabs on this piece of news and update when there is more information in the future.

The LEGO Movie Panel at SDCC 2014

The LEGO Movie Panel at SDCC 2014

The last panel I went to at San Diego Comic Con 2014 was the LEGO/Warner Bros. The LEGO Movie panel. The panel consisted of LEGO Brand marketing Director Brian Bowler, Executive Producer and LEGO Vice President of Product Design Matthew Ashton, and LEGO Senior Product Designer Michael Fuller. Jadon Sands (Finn) was scheduled to make an appearance but was a no show.

The panel pretty much showed the storyboard which was already seen in The LEGO Movie Blu-Ray. They talked about the concept of King Carl’s Castle which eventually turned into Unikitty’s Cloud Cuckoo Land. They also showed the different versions of Unikitty before the final version was chosen. One interesting slide that was shown was the version of Unikitty seen below. The panel hinted that we may be seeing more of Unikitty in a set(s) that will be released in January 2015. Early speculation is that this version of Unikitty will be in the Master Builder’s Submarine so fingers crossed.

Furthermore, the panel also showed off various designs of MetalBeard and discussed how Michael came up with the final design.

Overall, the panel was ok. A majority of the things that were shown were already on the Blu-Ray but some of the new stuff that was shown was a pleasant surprise including the new Unikitty minifigure. One of the highlights was the number of children cosplayers dressed up as some characters from the LEGO Movie including the kids that dressed up as half Unikitty and half Angry Kitty. There was also a Bad Cop, … Continue

The LEGO Movie Unikitty SDCC 2014 Exclusive Minifigure

The LEGO Movie Unikitty SDCC 2014 Exclusive

Today was the last day of San Diego Comic Con 2014 and also the last exclusive minifigure that the LEGO booth was giving away. The character that was given away was The LEGO Movie’s Unikitty however this version of her is a little different than the one found in the Cloud Cuckoo Palace (70803).

This 16 piece exclusive Unikitty uses the same exact pieces as the regular one minus 2 pieces, the face and the pink 1×3 eyebrow piece. That totals 4 exclusive pieces to this set with the 2 faces and 2 eyebrows. The faces that are included in this set can make Unikitty become Cutesykitty and Cheerykitty. She comes packaged in the usual clamshell plastic as well as an insert. The inserts for the other 2014 minifigures showed a portrait of the charcter but Unikitty’s portrait is on the back and inside the insert are the instructions of how to build her.

As you can see from the images below, when she is Cutesykitty, she has really big eyes with a sort of a worried eyebrow thing going on there. You’ve all seen how cute things look with their expressions. For Cheerykitty, she has a big smile with some raised eyebrows.

Overall, the SDCC 2014 Unikitty is a great addition to my collection and I’m glad that I was able to get all four minifigures from this year. Although this version of Unikitty is an exclusive, we may not have seen the last of her. I was in The LEGO Movie panel and … Continue

Batman and Super Angry Kitty Attack (70817) Revealed at SDCC 2014

The LEGO Movie SDCC 2014

Last week, we reported there will be a new The LEGO Movie set coming out in January 2015. Today at San Diego Comic Con 2014, LEGO officially announced the Batman and Super Angry Kitty Attack (70817). By releasing this set next year, it makes me think there will be more sets in the wave and not just having a fairly small set by itself.

Unfortunately, the box does have the LEGO watermark on it so I can’t post pictures of it. It will consist of 115 pieces and retail for $9.99. The set is pretty much what you see above on the right. You get Batman with a new clenched teeth expression and a grappling gun, a very Angry Kitty, a Skeletron, and a Micro Manager.

Unikitty Exclusive Minifigure at San Diego Comic Con 2014

The LEGO Movie SDCC 2014

Yahoo Movies has revealed another exclusive minifigure that will be given away at San Diego Comic Con 2014 and that is The LEGO Movie Unikitty. This version of Unikitty will have a double-sided head with a “Cuteskitty” on one side and a “Cheerkitty” on the other. The article doesn’t mention how the giveaway will be handled but I’m going to assume that it will be like last year where tickets are handed out and winners are listed at the LEGO booth.

Also in the image above on the right side, it shows some kind of The LEGO Movie set that is scheduled to be released in January 2015. There’s no other details at this time but you can see the set includes a Micro Manager, Angry Kitty, Batman with his grappling hook and Batarang, and a Skeletron with a gun.

Update: Below are images of the set from SDCC.
