The LEGO Movie Experience at LEGOLAND California

Last month, I attended Star Wars Days 2014 at LEGOLAND California and while I was there, I also checked out the recently opened The LEGO Movie Experience. The LEGO Movie is now out worldwide but if you still haven’t seen the movie yet, there will be some spoilers after this point. You have been warned.

The LEGO Movie Experience is a replica of the basement area of “The Man Upstairs” which is shown at the end of the film. The area is filled with sets that were actually used in the movie including the different worlds in the movie such as Bricksburg, The Old West, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Middle Zealand, and the Octan Tower. Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (70816) is also displayed in the space area of the basement. You can even see some nods to AFOLs such as Bruce Lowell’s donut and rubber duck. The LEGO Movie Themed Community Window at Fashion Valley LEGO Store

Fashion Valley LEGO Store Community Window

The Community Window at my local LEGO Store in San Diego (Fashion Valley) has been changed out and the new model is The LEGO Movie themed. It was created by Tommy who is a fellow member of SandLUG. The build is actually an interactive model where he has placed 12 Emmet minifigures throughout the whole model. The store even has a cool little contest where they are giving away the remaining Benny posters they have to children who can find all 12 Emmets. If you’re in the area, stop by the store and check out Tommy’s model and see if you can find all 12 “hidden” Emmets. Technically, I found 14 mentions of him but who’s counting 😉

I guess today is a day for revealing official images of upcoming LEGO sets on Amazon. Here we have the summer wave of the three The LEGO Movie sets.

The LEGO Movie The Emmet Awards Ordinary to Extraordinary Contest

It is now April and The LEGO Movie’s The Emmet Awards have started another contest for the month. This month’s contest is called Ordinary to Extraordinary. For this contest, you just have to build an ordinary LEGO model and add pieces to it to make it extraordinary. You can upload up to four images and people can vote on them. The contest lasts until the end of the month.

The Ordinary to Extraordinary Award. – Take everyday vehicles and buildings and rebuild them into something totally crazy-awesome to help save the day! Be sure to upload a before AND after photo so everyone can see the transformation!

The LEGO Movie: Everything is Awesome Edition Now on Amazon

As you can see from the image above, there are 3 discs, a cool Emmet display case, and the exclusive prologue Vitruvius minifigure. The listing does have a pre-order price guarantee so if the price goes down anything between now and the day of the release, you will get the lowest price.
