Yesterday, there was a report that come out of some issues with the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Ant-Man Final Battle (76039) which was first reported by Brick Fanatics. There is now some clarification on what that issue was about. A couple of our readers who have purchased the set early contacted LEGO customer service and this was one of the responses:
LEGO felt the set was not up to standards in terms of the legs so they are adding 12 pieces total to the set, 2 for each leg. So Stephen at the Brick Show was correct.
They have pulled the sets back. They will be issuing new boxes with updated piece counts, the additional pieces and new instructions.
They are mailing me the additional pieces + 1 new page of instructions.
Another reader notes:
According to the representative, the issue with the set was an error in the instruction manual. The original design did not call for a cross-axle where the legs meet the torso, and the instructions reflected this preliminary design step. They delayed the set so they can fix the instructions page to reflect the final design of the build. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the pieces, or the quality control of the printing in the set, it is simply a problem with the instruction manual.
He also said that it’s more than likely that any sets that are popping up in stores are the ones that have already been fixed.
So it seems now there are conflicts with the resolution but both mention that there is something wrong with the instructions. However, one reader does note that they are getting more pieces while the other says that there’s nothing wrong with the pieces that are already in the set. We’ll just have to wait and see if there are changes to the set as a total or just to the instructions.
Update: TheSilentShane in the comments says that this issue is only affecting the European market and people in the US shouldn’t have this problem.
